Artsy-fartsy shots of what is presumably a visit to Skaneateles by friends Michael and Mike. Not sure which is which ;) Click image for full size version. Click here for all Skaneateles images from R. Duke. I think the image with the eyeball in the window has been Photoshopped (or maybe Billy Fuccillo decided to stop by?). The house in the image titled “Mike & the House” is a great looking vacation house (if it is in fact a vacation house).

Doug’s Fish Fry side view. Interestingly, the first comment at Flickr.com for this photo by ebob1977 says:
“In my experience, the worst food is served at restaurants with large signs proclaiming “Good Food”. Unless someone I trusted recommended this place, I would avoid it like the plague.”
Considering the notoriety of Doug’s, and their great food well known by locals and visitors alike, I would guess one visit would change the mind of the commenter about “Good Food” restaurants forever.

It’s 3:50 AM, and I’m posting pictures of feet in Skaneateles Lake! Maybe sleep now. Anyway… this is another Skaneateles pic from Flickr. Kinda wish I was there (at the lake, that is, not Flickr). There are several other Skaneateles images in this user’s profile here. Click the pic for the full size version. P.S. If these are your feet, or if you can identify subject feet, feel free to leave a comment.

Great images of two visitors to Skaneateles found on Flickr.com. Click on each image for the full size versions. It looks to me like the unidentified hotel serving the free drinks might be Skaneateles Hotel?
Here are the images with captions: ”Cory is cute. We got free hot cocoa at some hotel.”
”Me trying to be cute back with my hot cocoa but kind of giving off a bored vibe by accident. I was really happy and excited. About my weird lipstick.”

Ok, just noticed this image on Flickr.com (click image for the full size version). Apparently, this is the treatment you receive from the Packwood House each and every day of your stay. I have to say that I like it. Just need to convince my wife that I deserve this sort of respect each day.

Like ghost stories? How about ghost stories in Skaneateles? Here’s a Skaneateles ghost story from the book Ghosts of the Erie Canal, by Anthony J. Gerst, copyright 2005.
“Pilot Down. Jordan, New York, part of the Old Erie Canal is a fascinating village. This story is about Skaneateles Lake and has come to us from this postcard village.
Skaneateles Lake, New York derives its name from the Indian word skan-e-a-dice, which means ‘long lake.’ The lake is 350 feet at the deepest spot. The third deepest of the Finger Lakes, yet is the least productive of the lakes in wildlife and plant species.

Two area hotels want to show people how to celebrate a wedding, German-style. The Holiday Inn in Auburn and the Sherwood Inn (wiki) in Skaneateles are offering Oktoberfest events this weekend. The world-renowned beer festival started in 1810 with horse racing and festivities to commemorate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Theresa von Sachsen Hildburghausen. Future festivities found millions of parched world travelers making their ways to the meadow of Munich to take part in the cultural phenomenon.
