Welch Allyn instrument, SkaneatelesSKANEATELES FALLS — Welch Allyn, Inc. [wiki]today announced it has realigned the company around global customer segments as part of a new strategic plan that focuses on addressing the changing needs of physicians, nurses, allied professionals, and their patients.

In making the announcement, the company also said it will increase its global reach by developing customer-focused solutions for growing and emerging markets outside the United States.

“Welch Allyn’s opportunity to achieve growth is greater than it has ever been,” explained Welch Allyn president and CEO Julie Shimer. “The new strategic plan is our roadmap for the future.”

In addition, she said the company will be organized around two geographies — led by executive vice president and president, United States and Canada, Steve Meyer; and executive vice president and president, International, Louise McDonald. Al DiRienzo was named senior vice president and chief science and technology officer; Scott Gucciardi was appointed senior vice president, Global Category Management and R&D; and Doug Linquest was named executive vice president, Strategy and Business Development.

Shimer explained that the structure of the new organization will assure focus, efficiency and effectiveness in executing against the new strategy.
