Don’t forget, our annual Blue and Gold Banquet is this Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The Blue and Gold Banquet began in Michigan in 1930s as Parent/Cub Dinners. The tradition of pot-luck dinners where the fathers brought utensils whittled by the father with his son was born and in the father/son dinners became commonplace. In 1943, the name “Blue and Gold Banquet” first appeared in Boy Scouts of America literature. Today the name is synonomous with the celebrating the birthday of Scouting worldwide.
Locally, the Blue and Gold is one of the highlights of Pack 161’s annual schedule. It brings together Scouts and their families for dinner and an evening of fun. Each Den will make and decorate its own cake for the annual cake contest. In addition to dinner, we will have skits and possibly a song along with advancements and a presentation about Summer camping opportunities.
We look forward to seeing everyone this Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the State Street School cafeteria!
