Occasionaly my twitter account sends me breaking news from the Post Standard and I just received a Tweet regarding the DWI crash where an off-duty Skaneateles Police officer was seriously injured. Below is the excerpt and tomorrow they will post the full article in The Post Standard.

Syracuse, NY – A Marcellus man pleaded guilty today to seriously injuring an off-duty Skaneateles police officer in a drunken-driving crash in January.

Jay A. Searle, 40, pleaded guilty before County Judge William Walsh to felony charges of first-degree vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated in the Jan. 10 crash that injured William Marventano.

Marventano, a part-time police officer in Skaneateles and the chief law enforcement officer at Cayuga Community College, was heading home from dinner with his wife when the car he was driving was struck by Searle’s vehicle at Lee Mulroy and Bishop Hill roads in Marcellus.

Searle will be sentenced April 28 to serve one to three years in state prison.”
