This workshop will take place on the following Saturdays: December 6th, 13th & 20th at Creekside Bookstore. Please call Creekside at 685-0379 to register.
You¹ve always wanted to write a holiday tale for your children or your grandchildren, your spouse or a long lost friend! What better gift could you give than to present a loved one with an original Christmas work- whether a poem, fable, fantasy, play, reminiscence or a real-life story – written by you!
Our workshop will show you how to craft a piece of writing that you will proudly give as a unique Christmas gift to someone you love. (Who knows: you may also become the next Clement Moore, or Charles Dickens!)
In this workshop you will learn how to:
- generate appealing storylines
- create distinctive characters
- structure your work within the Christmas literary tradition
- plot the story¹s events
- build a solid draft
- revise and perfect your story
Format: Workshops are conducted at Creekside in an informal, interactive atmosphere. Instructor will offer mini-lectures, conduct small group discussions, and facilitate peer critiques. Participants will refine their own works-in-progress, in and out of class. Instructor will also meet individually with participants.
Instructor: For 20 years Bob Comenole has taught writing, literature and communications at several colleges, including Miami University, Siena College, the State University of New York and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Mr. Comenole, author of Bushel & Lamp and the Christmas novel The Long Night of Clement C. Craggogre, has just completed work on a collection of short stories, Perplexed by the Egg & Other Stories, as well as a collection of essays. Last year, three newspapers published 8 chapters of his second Christmas tale, Watchman, Tell Me of the Night.
Fee: $55 for three 90-minute sessions, plus a personal editing conference with instructor.
BONUS:
All participants who sign up for the workshop will receive a free coupon for $10 off any store purchase.
