“Who isn’t cutting back these days? A study by Pew Research Institute found that 8 out of 10 Americans are trimming expenses, regardless of income or whether they have actually lost a job.
They are shopping more at discount stores, cutting back on cigarettes and alcohol and trimming their spending for cable or satelllite TV, according to the study.
…
But some things are seemingly recession-proof, according to the study. Despite the economy, people see high-speed Internet access, a cell phone and a home computer as vital.”
