The fate of Skaneateles P&C

Price Chopper made a motion to buy 22 supermarkets “free and clear of liens, claims, encumbrances and interests,” including the P&C in Skaneateles. The offer includes getting the rights to those nearly two dozen grocery stores’ phone numbers, pharmacy inventory and supplies, and pharmacy records. Offers are being accepted until the end of January. Price Chopper offered to pay $54 million “in cash” for the 22 grocery stores, according to legal documents. I’ve heard hopes that Wegmans would make an offer, but what do you think?

  1. I heard (from a P&C insider) that it will be final, on Thursday all P&C’s will be Topps Stores. Name may stay the same, they aren’t sure yet. I wonder what that will mean for what products are carried in the store…..?????

  2. I miss our P&C. I like Wegmans but my shopping bill has increased dramatically since they closed P&C. Wegmans has great products but even though they say their prices are lower I have been to several around my area and depending on where it is( higher income areas) the prices are different for the same product. Also with so many more products you are exposed to, the more you buy. I have 4 choices to shop, Walmart,Wegmans, Topps or Aldi. The first and last are lower priced but do not have all the selection. Topps business practice drove me away. Just be advised as great as it is and unless you adhere to your grocery list you may find the same happens to your grocery budget.

  3. Wegmans would be great! Beautiful stores, great prices and polite, helpful employees. Of course they would have to can all of the remaining PC cashiers! So tired of the ignorant and rude behavior when checking out. So many times you are made to feel as if you have interrupted their conversations by being there. Who needs that?

  4. I want a Wegmans to take the place of our P&C, anyone else?
