The Skaneateles Victory Sports Campus Project, is a 99-acre sports complex of football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball and softball fields, as well as basketball and volleyball courts, along with other sports.
This commercially-driven sports complex will be located on the property just east of the village on the south side of Route 20. On the east side it will boarder the Windward Estates development, to the west it will be adjacent to the properties on the east side of East Lake Rd.
This Sports Campus is being designed to attract outside interest from state to national levels. A very similar facility was built in 1999 in West Bradford, PA on 100 acres (population 7,882). They presently attract over a million people a year with teams and events from all over the country. To quote an article from Dr. Pietropaoli’s website, [he's] “designing the facility with ‘the whole gamut’ of users in mind, from organized sports teams to the weekend warrior.” http://www.victorysportsmedicine.com/
In a recent “invitation only” presentation given by Victory Sports Medicine, it was stated that it is being designed in hopes to attract everything from little league to college-level teams.
This 99-acre compound will also include an indoor sports arena and a medical facility of up to 100,000 sq ft.
This will have a major impact on the unique nature of our community. The concern is that the community in general is unaware of the magnitude of this project that has already begun to level fields.
Next Town Planning Board Meeting is October 16th. Remember! IF THEY BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME!
