August 10 Barefoot Hike, 1-3pm
Free your feet and feel the earth under your soles. Join Barefoot Bob for a half-mile barefoot hike along the Valley Trail over grass, wooden bridges, leaves and soil. Your feet will thank you! Accommodates 5-20. This program is not intended for families with strollers. $5 for members; $15/family; $8 for nonmembers, $25/family.

August 12 Star Party: Perseid Meteor Shower, 9-11 pm
It’s the annual Perseid meteor shower, one of the year’s finest, along with great views of the summer Milky Way, the ringed planet Saturn, and also Uranus and Neptune. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to lie back and watch for meteors when you’re not at a telescope. Back-up date: August 13. $5 for members, $15/family; $8 for nonmembers, $25/family.

August 17 Yoga in the Woods with Dena Beratta, 9am-noon
Yoga, like time spent in nature, is nourishing to body, mind, and spirit. Combine a moderate hike with a complementary yoga practice for a mindful outdoor exploration. The morning will include guided meditation, a hike with yoga stops to stretch your hiking muscles, and a lovely guided relaxation. $25 for members, $35 for nonmembers.

August 24 Run for the Woods at Marcellus Park, 7:45am
Co-sponsored by Marcellus Rotary Club, the run benefits The Woods and community service projects in Marcellus. Runners can choose the 5-mile or 4-kilometer run. August 24 Musical Nature Walk, 10:30-11:30am
John Weeks will lead a guided walk on one of the nature center’s trails. Along the way you’ll not only hear (and see) the music of Nature, but you’ll also hear the live music of Skaneateles Festival performers David Ying, cello, and Bart Feller, flute!

August 24 Solar Party with Bob Piekiel, 1-3pm
Every 11 years the sun peaks in its cycle of solar activity, and the projected maximum is expected in summer of 2013. With special telescopes, sunspots, solar prominences, and magnetic storms can be viewed clearly and safely. Come and have a close-up look at our nearest star and see it as you’ve never seen it before. Back-up date: August 25. $5 for members, $15/family; $8 for nonmembers, $25/family.

August 29 Art Reception, 6-8pm
Reception for two Skaneateles artists, Rachel Harms and Barbara Delmonico.
