Yesterday a group of local business owners (about 12 of us) got together underneath the book store at Creekside Books & Cafe for a little lesson on blogging on SkaneatelesTalk. The main point of the meeting was to convey to everyone that blogging is FREE on SkanTalk and it will give your business more exposure on the Internet. Now, who can argue with that!

We talked about the great search engine ranking that SkaneatelesTalk.com is receiving on Google, Yahoo, etc. and by blogging with us local businesses and individuals will enjoy those rankings too. I walked everyone through some of the tricks of using the WordPress back-end, which is what SkaneatelesTalk is based on. We talked about adding text to an article, adding photos to an article and the VERY important topic of “categories” and “tags”.

Within an hour I was working on my laptop back at the office and several people from the meeting had already signed up and were working to post an article. It really isn’t that hard to create a blog on SkanTalk and post your article for the world to see. Below I’ve included a roster of the attendees to serve as a way to “link” to their websites - at the meeting we also covered the importance of getting others to link to you (the back and forth increases web traffic).
