More than 2000 people signed up for the Relay for Life event that took place last night and into this morning at the S.U. Carrier Dome. There were a lot of S.U. and ESF students but there were also families with young children and our own team of Skaneateles High School Girls. At last tally the entire event pulled in a fundraising total for the American Cancer Society of over $130K, and $785 of that was due to our girls

Relay for Life in the Carrier Dome is tonight. It begins at 7PM and goes through the night until 7AM Sunday morning. It is mainly a Syracuse University and ESF relay but this year 2 Moms and 10 Skaneateles Sophomore High School Girls will also have a team there.
The girls are really excited and preparing for the event today. We will be taking lots of pictures and posting an article after the event so check back…
The girls have raised almost $800 - AWESOME JOB girls!!! They will continue to raise money onsite with fundraising efforts that take place all through the event. This particular event has raised over $100,000 so far and continues to grow. It is now currently the 7th ranking Relay for Life event for raising money for the American Cancer Society. If you would like to donate to our team, follow this link to our team’s page with Relay for Life HERE.

Our final 3 team members registered last night. They just got in under the wire as March 15th was the deadline. Now we have 11 members on our team that will attend the 8th ranking Relay For Life event in the whole United States. The event will be held at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse NY on March 29th. It will go from 7PM in the evening until 7AM. We have 2 Skaneateles mothers and 9 Skaneateles High School Sophomore girls that will be attending the relay. One of our girls has 2 pop-up tents that we will be using for our “campsite” at the Relay. We will be able to continue our fundraising on site at the event by charging other teams and their members for a little “shut-eye” in the privacy of one of our tents. We were thinking $2 per hour. It should be a great time and we will be taking lots of pictures, so check back here after March 29th.

On March 29th at 7PM a team of Skaneateles High School girls will attend an event in the Carrier Dome in Syracuse to help raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society. This specific relay event has been ranked #8 in the entire country. To participate in the event the girls will have to walk laps down on the turf in the Carrier Dome. At least 1 member of the team at a time must stay awake and be walking laps throughout the event, which takes place from 7PM until 7AM the following Sunday morning. This is to signify that Cancer is the disease that doesn’t sleep.
Look around town this month as the girls team organizes their fundraising efforts. Please support them in this endeavour! I don’t think there are many of us who haven’t been touched in one way or another by this terrible disease. In my family alone we have a Grandmother who survived Ovarian Cancer, a Father who died of Lung Cancer, and another Grandmother who survived Bone Cancer.

If it’s easier for you to donate online then PLEASE DO SO TODAY! Thank-you
