Skaneateles songwriter/singer John will play acoustic guitar and perform original songs, classics by the Beatles, and songs by contemporary artists. John is a senior at Skaneateles High School and will attend SUNY Geneseo in the fall.

Skaneateles HS students volunteering for “Mission of Miracles,” a medical program serving El Salvador, will sell t-shirts at the event to raise money for this worthy cause.

The Live Music Program at Creekside Coffeehouse offers an exciting program this weekend featuring Mike Powell “The Polite Rebel” on Friday, October 23rd and The Barrigar Brothers on Saturday, October 24th. Both programs begin at 7:30 pm. Beer and wine, per requests by patrons, is now available as well as Creekside’s fresh roast coffees, desserts and snacks. We hope to see you this weekend!

“Milfoil Benefit” featuring Dusty Pas’cal and the Milfoil Monster at Creekside Books & Coffee. $ 5 Admission (Ages 5 & Under Free) and $1 Donation to take photo with Milfoil Monster goes straight to the Milfoil Eradication Project. Creekside Books & Coffee will donate 10% of all wine & appetizer menu purchases at the benefit to the project.

The benefit also includes an Awards Presentation for the Milfoil Coloring Contest: Prizes. Prizes for 6 yrs and younger winners include the choice of a children’s books from Creekside Books & Coffee or a Webkinz from White Sleight…ETC.
Prizes for Milfoil for 7 to 12 years winners include a Skaneateles Gift Basket from the Chamber of Commerce or a $25 Gift Certificate from Skaneateles Town Square.

FALL EVENTS
Creekside and Friends of the Central Library (FOCL) have joined forces for a spectacular season!
The Rosamond Gifford Lecture Series kicks off on October 6th with Khaled Hosseini, author of The Kite Runner and continues with a spectacular lineup of authors this season. Creekside Books & Coffee is a proud media sponsor and book vendor for the series.

In conjunction with the lecture series, we are introducing a new book club at Creekside, The Rosamond Gifford Book Club. Join us as we read the lecture series books together, discuss them at our book club meetings at Creekside and then organize an evening in Syracuse to attend the coinciding lecture at the John H. Mulroy Civic Center. Complimentary wine and cheese will be served at our first book club meeting scheduled for September. The Book club is free to the public. Registration is required. ”Creekside Writers Academy”
This autumn, Creekside Books will offer another round of writing workshops through our “Creekside Writers Academy”. The courses focus on developing creative, professional and personal writing. Classes are generally 5 weeks in length and will be offered throughout the fall, beginning the week after Labor Day. The seminars are taught by retired literature professor and local novelist, Bob Comenole. For the past year, Mr. Comenole has taught numerous workshops at Creekside in an informal, interactive atmosphere.

The schedule of courses this fall include: Writing your Memoir or Autobiography, Writing for Children, Power Writing (adding grace, clarity and muscle to your writing) and The Hero’s Journey for Storytellers (using myth and archetypes). Laura’s List: Summer Booklover’s Party
Join us as we kick off summer reading previews with the founder of a local Breast Cancer organization, Positively Pink Packages and Breast Cancer survivor, Jennifer Tom. Author of East Hope, Katharine Davis, and creator of Laura’s List: Books for Women, Laura Ponticello as well as owner of Creekside Books & Coffee, Erika Davis, will preview this summer’s reading list. A portion of the evening’s book and wine sales plus a raffle prize from Mirbeau Inn & Spa (www.mirbeau.com) will help local Skaneateles resident, mother and inspirational speaker, Susan Major, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. The event will support the “24 hour goal” of raising $1,000 and the clock starts with the Summer Booklover’s Party.

Join us for a fun evening of wine tasting, food and music as we celebrate the new Wine & Appetizer Menu at Creekside.  Local wineries will be at Creekside to sample their favorite summer selections and a representative form Murano Cheese in Waterloo will be offering free samples of his delicious locally made cheeses, offered in Creekside’s “Locally Made Cheese Plate”.  Music by Poor Howard will begin at 7:00 pm.

“America first began to set aside lands proclaimed as “forever wild” in the Adirondacks.” This first park included 6 million acres of public and private lands and has provided one of the greatest case studies in conservation in U.S. History. Join us to discuss the “experiment” and how it might help our local efforts.
