Finger Lakes: For more than a century, the natural scenic beauty of the Finger Lakes has drawn generations of tourists. The vineyards, glens, and steamers that made the region famous are displayed through the vintage images in this volume. These postcards capture the lively and dynamic atmosphere that has kept visitors flocking to the area for years, eager to mail a piece of their memories back home.
Watkins Glen Racing: Long ago, visitors reached Watkins Glen by railroad, steamboat, and horse-drawn wagon. They came to stay in the grand resorts, watch automobile racing in the streets, stroll through the countryside, attend Grange fairs, and ride an early trolley. Everytime I have company in from out of town I’m asked “Where can we go out to eat in Skaneateles?” Our family falls in to a routine of going to a few of the same places all the time: Doug’s Fish Fry, Joe’s Pasta Garage, Bluewater Grill, Johnny Angels or sometimes Chang Jiang. Now right away that list probably tells you a little too much.
There are sooo many other great places to dine in town from a slice of pizza at Valentines or Mark’s Pizzeria, to a 5 course meal at The Krebs or Rosalie’s Cucina. There is also the Tavern or Dining Room at Sherwood Inn, Joelle’s French Bistro, or Giverny – Mirbeau’s Award winning restaurant. I’m sure I have forgotten about some of the great restaurants in Skaneateles …
Whatever your tastes may be there is a LOT cooking in Skaneateles. It’s up to you to decide what you will be sampling next. Bon apetit!!!
