At Bijou we are always thinking of new ways to make life easier for everyone! I base a lot of my decisions on what is difficult for me when I do things outside of Bijou. Like for instance, I really hate that I never remember to book an appointment during the day when I am working…which happens to be the hours of the places I am trying to book an appointment. I will think about it early in the morning, before they open, then I go to work, work all day..Get out of work, worry about dinner and all that other stuff. THEN at 10pm…I’m slapping my forehead because, once again..I FORGOT to call to make an appointment. Seriously if I could book an online appointment for my automobile service garage, I would never have to be late again on an oil change. AS a matter of fact, the first garage that implements that…they have my business!

This is Samayyeah! She is Bijou’s very own Threader!
What is Threading??
Threading hair is an ancient method commonly practiced in Eastern countries, like Egypt and India, but is becoming very popular here in the West. Threading removes the entire hair follicle, lasting up to 6 weeks.

It’s that time of the month, everything in Bijou has (or will be soon) turned pink! Last year at this time, we raised over $1000 for the national breast cancer foundation. Bijou made the commitment to donate 10% of our service sales to help find a cure for breast cancer. I believe every little bit helps! So keep in mind, every dollar you spend at Bijou for the month of October, 10% will go to finding a cure! Thanks, once again for participating! I would really love any suggestions for where is the best place to send it, last year I just did the national breast cancer foundation, but am open to any great suggestions!
Be sure to keep up on our blog, we keep adding exciting news and coverage for the Pink cow bingo, any questions…just ask us, we’ll find the answers for you! PLUS we have tickets, stop in and buy one or two or five! And if you really enjoy reading the blog, subscribe to it, then it will just magically appear in your email inbox, ready for you to read…although the music is missing when you do it that way
Thank you so much for always helping with any request we have. Everyone has always been so supportive and it is my great honor to use Bijou as a “vehicle” to raise money for very special causes! Remember it is not how much you give, because trust me, every little tiny bit helps and believe me when I say, when you give..it comes back ten-fold!
Yours truly,
Kim Baker

After having the “milfoil monster” visit Bijou, and discussing the large green footprints
at the door of the salon, I realized, we really are avoiding a huge problem in our lake. Yeah there are the guys cleaning it up, but why…and how? Who is funding it? Well after a little bit of research and after talking to the “skaneateles pool boys” (their reference, not mine;) I learned a little bit more and decided to try to help a little too! It doesn’t take much, just a few bucks, every little tiny bit helps!! We all love our lake, but how long do we expect it to be as perfect as it is?? I see a huge difference in the lake from when I first moved here over 13 years ago!
So help me…

From the Bijou Salon website:

“Today I had the Honor, and I do mean Honor with a capital H, to meet Helen. She is a local Skaneateles resident who is turning 100!
Thanks to the Internet, her Granddaughter Leslie contacted me a few weeks ago asking if we could come to her beloved Grandmothers house who was turning 100 years old for a manicure, something she wasn’t sure if her grandma had ever had!! How could I ever refuse! I knew I would have a lovely time and it was something that I looked forward to from the moment I booked the appointment for her!”
