Last Saturday I spent the evening from 6pm to 6am in the Syracuse Carrier Dome with 10 High School Girls. We all attended the S.U./ESF Relay for Life event. For many of us it was our second year attending. We had another amazing time together and the girls are making plans for next year already. Our team raised funds just shy of $400 and the overall event came very close to $130,000. See the photo gallery below to get a feel for the evenings events. Thanks to everyone who helped to support our team!!

In March of 2008 my daughter and I created a Skaneateles High School team of Moms and daughters and attended the Syracuse University Relay for Life overnight event at the Carrier Dome. Our team alone raised over $800 and the event itself ,with all of the teams that participated, raised $160,000.
This was an amazing, moving, inspiring and selfless evening. The girls got a lot out of attending the event and as we were leaving at 6AM the next morning they were asking if we could do it again the next year. This year the event will take place on Saturday, March 28th and go all night again. We have our team started and over half of the girls from last year signed up as well as a few new ones. Being a part of this event is a wonderful opportunity for our local girls to see beyond their day-to-day problems that seem so important to them (as is the case with most high schoolers) and get a real sense of life, loss, struggle, community, and selfless caring for others. Many of them were really touched by the

Relay for Life in the Carrier Dome is tonight. It begins at 7PM and goes through the night until 7AM Sunday morning. It is mainly a Syracuse University and ESF relay but this year 2 Moms and 10 Skaneateles Sophomore High School Girls will also have a team there.
The girls are really excited and preparing for the event today. We will be taking lots of pictures and posting an article after the event so check back…
The girls have raised almost $800 – AWESOME JOB girls!!! They will continue to raise money onsite with fundraising efforts that take place all through the event. This particular event has raised over $100,000 so far and continues to grow. It is now currently the 7th ranking Relay for Life event for raising money for the American Cancer Society. If you would like to donate to our team, follow this link to our team’s page with Relay for Life HERE.
We have had a few team members really pull out the stops with their recent fund raising. We now have a total of $370 raised and are getting really close to our goal of $500. We will also continue to raise funds for our group “onsite” during the actual Relay.
The Relay will take place next Saturday (less than a week away) in the S.U. Carrier Dome. We have a team of 12 members that will be attending the Relay and will be working out the final details this upcoming week. It’s not too late to donate if you wish to support your local Skaneateles High School girls Relay for Life Team.
We will be taking pictures during the Relay so check back after next week-end for a look-see at our team in the Dome.
Our final 3 team members registered last night. They just got in under the wire as March 15th was the deadline. Now we have 11 members on our team that will attend the 8th ranking Relay For Life event in the whole United States. The event will be held at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse NY on March 29th. It will go from 7PM in the evening until 7AM. We have 2 Skaneateles mothers and 9 Skaneateles High School Sophomore girls that will be attending the relay. One of our girls has 2 pop-up tents that we will be using for our “campsite” at the Relay. We will be able to continue our fundraising on site at the event by charging other teams and their members for a little “shut-eye” in the privacy of one of our tents. We were thinking $2 per hour. It should be a great time and we will be taking lots of pictures, so check back here after March 29th.

Our Relay for Life Team is finally coming together. We have at least 15 girls from Skaneateles High School interested in participating in the event and 9 of them have gone through and signed up officially. Make sure you guys sign up remember March 15th is the deadline to register.
The High School and Drama Club have graciously agreed to let us take advantage of the foot traffic that will be coming in to attend tonight’s Thoroughly Modern Millie play. We will have a table right by the front door and will be asking that our local community donate any pocket change (or more) to support our team’s efforts in raising awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society.
If you want to DONATE online at the official Skaneateles HS Team’s Relay for Life website then click here.
Thanks so much for supporting our Girls and their efforts!!
** Here’s an update to tonight’s fundraising efforts. We collected just shy of $40 ($38.97 to be exact) tonight with our table at the entrance to the Thorougly Modern Millie Play. Thanks again to the school, the play, and the people who helped support our team tonight.
